This Is Not The Book You Are Looking For

In another rambling episode, iMyke and I discuss a variety of topics including my nocturnal writing habits, how busy we both have been, how I'm organizing the current book I'm working on, the Google+ "real names only" policy, and well, even more about the book.

Stuff I Love: Byword

In this episode, iMyke and I discuss my recent switch from my long time go to text editor, TextEdit to newcomer Byword. Not sure this will last forever as my love for TextEdit has not changed (and has grown even more in Lion). That said, with the amount of work I'm doing in Markdown lately, Byword has become pretty much indispensable to me.

Solitude

In this episode, Myke and I discuss some of the research and thinking I have been doing on the subject of solitude. I firmly believe that the increasingly connected we become, the more valuable solitude will be. We also branch off into other related topics but, first, we start off discussing headphones. Yes, headphones.

Items mentioned include:

Thank You Steve

In this special episode, Myke and I discuss the resignation of Steve Jobs as CEO of Apple and what it means for today and the future yet to come.

Patronage

In this episode, Myke and I discuss my offer for readers of Minimal Mac to become Patrons. Patronage has long been a way for people to participate in the creation of a work, especially the arts, in return for the value they derived from it and to ensure the artists continued ability to create. We discuss the reasons why I’m specifically using that term versus, say, “membership”. I believe these are very different and specific things. Patrons receive access to much of my unreleased work for my next book, the website, etc. Also, patrons receive access to some of the research I’m doing on a variety of projects.

In this episode, Myke and I do some catching up on the London riots (So very glad he is OK). We discuss why no news is still good news except when the news matters. We also discuss some of my recent thoughts and discussion (and flat out crazy ideas) around email.

Lion Cubs

In this episode, Myke and I discuss Mac OS X Lion. More specifically, we discuss the idea that it is not the big, highly touted, features that make it great (though those are part of it for sure). Instead, it is the tiny little touches abounding in nearly every corner that make this most recent upgrade a must.
